The name Baltek is derived from the Tagalog word "Saltik" which similarly means mental imbalance. Typically, when someone you love was forced to work abroad to earn a living the first few months of being separated is really a struggle that might cause mood swings, tantrums, and loneliness. The owner's partner is an OFW and often experience such emotions due to separation anxiety. She was then called Baltek by her partner because of her mood swings and it became their term of endearment. In order to lessen the burden of separation, the owner decided to put up a business that will cater to those who are working abroad to be able to continue to show their love and care to their loved ones.

MyBaltek is an online store that serves different types of gift items ranging from flowers, stuffed toys, chocolates, and certain food items. What makes it unique is that it accepts orders from other countries and then ships the items locally. So what they do is take an order from a person who resides in another country who then processes the payment either through credit card or through remittance payment. From here, MyBaltek staff processes the order by first packing the item and then shipping it to the client either by courier or through personal delivery. They personally deliver items if the recipient resides in Metro Manila and they deliver items via courier if the recipient lives in the provinces.

This will also remind their loved ones that whatever happens, they will come back to the Philippines.
